During this long weekend in July, the Ruthenian athletes certainly did not obtain a title or a medal, but they took advantage of the two national competitions, the French minim cup in Angers and the French cadet and junior championship in Mulhouse, to achieve many personal bests and even an Aveyron record. A season that will remain one of the best achieved by blood and gold, all disciplines combined.
Among the six qualified Stadistes for the “France” of Mulhouse, the cadet Jules Dumas was particularly expected. But hampered by a sore hand for a few days, he failed to achieve the performance he wanted in the discus and shot put. His brother Max took 6th place in the discus throw final with a mark measured at 43.44m. The Ruthénois finished 15th in the weight final. The other blood and gold failed to qualify for one of the finals.
On the Anger side, the four selected from the Stade Rodez athletics made a large contribution to the three medals obtained by the Occitanie selection: the boys in gold, the girls in bronze and in the mixed classification, also in bronze. And among the blood and gold performances, Yvi Robert ranked 5th in the 2,000m with a time of 5’49”75, and took the opportunity to break the Aveyron record.
