Bad Ragaz (SID) – Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic was dismayed at the tumor found in striker Sebastien Haller. “It’s brutally difficult for us. Of course it shocked me to get this news,” said Terzic on Tuesday at the BVB training camp in Bad Ragaz in the Swiss mountains.
He found out about it on Monday half an hour before leaving for the test match against FC Valencia. “It wasn’t easy to switch to tactics and other things afterwards,” he said. “We keep our fingers crossed for Sebastien and the entire family.”
The coaching team “hasn’t given much thought to the sporting consequences. We don’t have a definitive diagnosis, so we don’t even know how long the downtime will be.” Haller is to replace top star Erling Haaland, who has switched to Manchester City, in the storm center.
Haller (28) suddenly felt unwell on Monday after the morning session, and a testicular tumor was discovered in the afternoon. Examinations in the coming days should bring certainty whether cancer is present.
The BVB season starts on August 6th with a home game against Bayer Leverkusen. Before that, the DFB Cup first round game at third division team 1860 Munich is coming up.
