Canal + online on consoles and Philips TVs?
Owners of Samsung TVs, especially LG, had to wait a long time to be able to directly install Canal + online or use external set-top boxes. The Disney + service launched a month ago, apart from the most popular systems, immediately appeared on Samsung, LG and Panasonic devices (My Home Screen OS operating system), as well as Hisense (VIDAA 2.5, VIDAA 4.0 or later systems) and on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, Xbox Series X, Xbeox Series S. From October 2020, the TVP VOD service is also available on Philips TVs with the Saphi operating system.
In the case of this popular manufacturer, newer TV models are available with Android TV, older ones are available from Saphi. Will Canal + online be available to owners of most Philips TVs and viewers of streaming services via game consoles? – We plan to expand the list of devices and platforms on which the Canal + online service is available. At the moment, we cannot share more detailed information, the work is underway – informs Wirtualnemedia.pl Piotr Kaniowski, spokesman for Canal +. Thus, it does not reveal when the platform will debut on new devices. The impatient can buy an add-on for less than PLN 200, e.g. with Android TV, to use Canal + online.
Last year Canal + Polska with a 1.8% increase in consolidated revenues to PLN 2.45 billion, it achieved PLN 120.5 million of net profit more than in the previous year. It paid its shareholders PLN 224.05 million in dividends, of which PLN 71.69 million went to TVN Media. In mid-2020, the Canal + platform had a total of 2.703 million users (compared to 2.748 million at the end of 2019, 2.708 million a year earlier and 2.649 million at the end of 2017).
