Jo Hodkinson48, took out for a walk Elvis, his dog, as he normally did. However, he never thought that he would end up visiting the doctor for a “nagging pain” that he felt at that moment. From then on suspicions began in the woman, who had survived breast cancer ten years ago.
The doctors were in charge of notifying him that the cancer had returned, but this time it was in the bones of his hip, thigh and pelvisinforma Mirror.
The news was devastating for her, since she never imagined that a pain, which according to her was not so strong, would end up being something so serious.
“I could not believe it”
“I felt numb when they told me that the nagging pain in my leg was cancer. I couldn’t believe it because it didn’t even hurt that bad at the time, but my bones were literally falling apart and it was in my lymph nodes,” she said.
Finally, in May 2021, the woman underwent delicate surgery at a hospital in the English city of Birmingham, where she was warned that she would most likely walk with a limp.
“When I got home, I started physio right away. I had to learn to walk again and try to regain mobility, but I knew it wasn’t enough. And that I didn’t have the muscular strength to walk with Elvis, so I got a personal trainer,” he said.
therapy cycles
Hodkinson, whose cancer has no cureis currently in her tenth cycle of therapy, of course, always accompanied by her dog.
“The remaining tumors are shrinking with each cycle of therapy. Last time I had a scan in March they said they were too small to measure. I’m going to keep these tablets until they don’t work anymore,” he stressed.
“I feel the urge to do fun things while feeling good. I just got back from a three week road trip to Texas with my friend Aimee. She was the first person I ever told I had cancer. And now I really want to do ‘Race for Life’ with Elvis. he will love it“, he added.
