Østigård presented as a Napoli player

A very happy Østigård was presented to the Italian press on Monday night.

– Now I will work hard to play for Napoli which is a big club. I am ready to show my qualities and qualities, and I am happy to be here, says the 22-year-old at the press conference.

– It is a dream for me, something I have worked for my entire career. Now I am a happy guy, Østigård continues.

The 22-year-old spent the last half of last season on loan in Genoa. After impressing in Serie A, national team games awaited the youngster, and not least interest from Naples.

– I have had to wait a while. The only club I wanted to go to was Naples. That was what I was working towards, so I’m very happy to be sitting here.

It is expected that the transfer fee for Østigård will have a total budget approaching NOK 100 million, including various bonuses. Napoli and Brighton are said to have agreed on this last Monday.

“Me” Koulibaly?

In Naples, among other things, Champions League games await Østigård, after his new club finished in third place in Serie A.

But it will be without their former defensive champion Kalidou Koulibaly. He continues his career at Chelsea.

– Koulibaly is of course a terribly good defender. But I just have to be myself, I can not be Koulibaly. I just want to show off my qualities.

But it is not just Koulibaly who made an impression on Hardhausen from Åndalsnes when he met Napoli last season.

The stopper was asked who is the best striker he has met. If the answer was completely sincere, the 22-year-old will have to answer on a later occasion.

– I must almost say Victor Osimhen, Østigård said with a laugh during the press conference.

More Norwegians in Serie A

Østigård’s transition from Brighton to Napoli joins a Norwegian Serie A invasion. Earlier this summer, Erik Botheim and Kristian Thorstvedt announced a transfer to the Italian top division.

In addition, Ola Solbakken is connected to José Mourinho’s Roma, among others.

Morten Thorsby, Kristoffer Askildsen, Emil Konradsen Ceïde, Julian Kristoffersen, Martin Njøten Palumbo and Emil Bohinen are our other representatives.

But TV 2’s information indicates that the former Thorsby gets ready for Union Berlin.
