League route draw

Monaco (FRA) – PSV Eindhoven (NED)
Dínamo de Kyiv (UKR) / Fenerbahce (TUR)
– Sturm Graz (AUT)
Union Saint-Gilloise (BEL) – Rangers (SCO)
Benfica ( POR) – Midtjylland (DEN) / AEK Larnaca (CYP)

Six new entrants enter the league path, joining two winners from the second qualifying round (league path). Teams are seeded or unseeded according to their coefficient in the club ranking (the higher coefficient of the two clubs involved in pairings yet to be decided is taken into account).

How did the giveaway work?

  • There were two draws: one for the 12 teams in the champions path and one for the eight teams in the league path.
  • The draw included some teams that participate in the second qualifying round on July 19/20 and 26/27. For the purposes of the draw, the highest coefficient of the two clubs involved in an unfinished pairing will be used.
  • The teams in each draw were divided equally between seeded and unseeded teams, according to the clubs’ coefficient ranking.
  • The balls containing the names of the seeded teams were placed in one container and the balls with the unseeded teams were placed in another. One ball was removed from each container and placed in another large void in the center, where they were mixed. The first team drawn will play the first leg at home.
  • UEFA was able to form groups for the draw in accordance with the principles established by the Club Competitions Committee. Clubs from the same federation cannot play against each other.

What happens next?

The winners of the third qualifying round advance to the play-off round. Teams defeated on the champions path advance to the UEFA Europa League play-off round. The defeated teams from the league path are incorporated into the group stage of the Europa League.
