Seversk is under the control of the forces of the Luhansk People’s Republic. This is stated by the assistant minister of the interior of LPR Vitaly Kiselev, quoted by Novosti.
“Seversk is under our control,” is the report.
Kiselev also stated that Soledar, 15 km from Bakhmut, will be released within a few days.
There is no confirmation at this stage from the Ukrainian side.
Seversk is located on 30 km west of Lysychansk and is the first larger populated place towards which the Russian offensive was directed after the termination of the so-called “operational pause” two days ago.
The town, with a population of about 11,000, is located at a fork in the road, one of which leads south to Bakhmut, an important transport hub.
