The Directorate of the National Association of Football Coaches (ANTF) issued, this Monday, a statement giving an account of its position regarding the hiring of coach Moreno.
«On becoming aware, through the Media, of the recent hiring of João Miguel Cunha Teixeira “Moreno” for the position of head coach of the senior men’s team of Vitória Sport Clube Fut. SAD, comes publicly [ANTF]and once again, to express its indignation and repudiation, for yet another sad episode, which discredits the image of Portuguese football and distorts the sporting truth», reads the aforementioned document.
«We regret that in a country with the best players and coaches in the world, we continue to witness, with impunity, constant violations of the Law and Regulations of Competitions of the Liga Portugal, disregarding – even devaluing – the effort of abiding coaches – the overwhelming majority – who, with personal and financial effort, comply with the provisions of the Law, investing seriously, committed and without overtaking on the right, in their professional career and in their professional training.
We are surprised that a club, with a long tradition in the training of talent, sponsors this type of situations that do not comply with the Law, in clear denial of its legacy.
We reinforce, once again, the urgent need to change the Legal Regime of Sports Federations, with the need to restore equality of criteria and opportunities for all football coaches.
In view of the repeated failure to comply with the League Competitions Regulations – approved by the Clubs themselves -, and the Regime for Access and Exercise of the Activity of Sports Coach, approved by the Assembly of the Republic, we await a decision by the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports , therefore, we consider that this constant climate of affront to the Law of the Republic cannot continue in a State of Law.
‘Portuguese football cannot be a land without law, as it cannot continue to be an exception to the rule of law’.
We do not intend to customize, but obey the law!”, they add.
