entertainment">Former opera singer and TV presenter Ernst Daniël Smid underwent risky brain surgery last week in his fight against Parkinson’s disease. That hours-long procedure – the implantation of electrodes and a neurostimulator – was successful, his girlfriend Jolanda Bierbooms said. Now, however, it is an exciting time to see whether symptoms, such as trembling of limbs, are reduced by the operation of the medical equipment.
