Pension indexation will take place on August 1 – two months earlier than usual, the Saeima decided. Considering the high inflation, the government had supported the Ministry of Welfare’s proposal to index pensions this year on September 1 this year, but the parliament has accelerated it by another month. This, however, does not reduce concerns about whether pension indexation will be able to cover the rapidly increasing cost of living.
