The Benefits of Photosynthesis for Plants and the Process It Takes

The benefits of photosynthesis for plants are certainly very useful for their own survival.

Photosynthesis is a biochemical process in plants. This process takes place thanks to the help of sunlight.

Of course, not all living things carry out photosynthesis. Only those who have chlorophyll content are able to carry out this process.

Some of the Benefits of Photosynthesis for Plants

Plants are living things that exist on Earth. They carry out a process called photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis in plants itself occurs in the leaves. This is because leaves contain chlorophyll which is an important component for photosynthesis.

This process is very important for plants because it has a very important role. By photosynthesis, plants can obtain their energy or food.

In addition, photosynthesis will also produce oxygen into the air so that other living things can breathe properly.

So, the main benefit of photosynthesis is to produce food substances in the form of glucose as the basic material for forming fats and proteins in plant organs.

Without photosynthesis, plants would not get their food or energy. Therefore, plants have the ability to convert solar energy into chemical energy or food substances.

In the process of photosynthesis, plants also need carbon dioxide gas or CO2. Later, plants will produce O2 as a result of photosynthesis.

Thus, the benefits of photosynthesis can also be felt by humans because they get clean air and oxygen to breathe.

Photosynthesis Process

To get the benefits of photosynthesis for plants, there are two stages in this process. The two stages are the light and dark reactions.

Both light and dark reactions occur in chloroplasts. In the bright phase, the sun’s energy will absorb chlorophyll to be converted into chemical energy.

After that, the water will split into hydrogen and oxygen ions. Hydrogen ions will bond with carbon dioxide and produce glucose.

While the oxygen that is formed will later be released by plants into the atmosphere.

The second stage, namely the glass reaction, is that carbon dioxide and hydrogen ions will interact with each other with the chemical energy that the light reactions produce.

The chemical energy will turn into glucose in this dark phase. The glucose will later form nucleic acids, proteins, structural carbohydrates, and nucleic acids.

Substances resulting from this second stage will later play an important role in metabolism in plant organs.

Actually not only plants that carry out the process of photosynthesis. Every living thing that has chlorophyll must carry out photosynthesis.

Well, that was some of the benefits of photosynthesis for plants and the process that occurs which is divided into two stages. Photosynthesis plays an important role in plants because it will affect the survival of them and the living creatures around them. (R10/HR-Online)
