New school minister: Schools should be allowed to start later

According to the new NRW School Minister Dorothee Feller (CDU), schools should be given the opportunity to start classes later in the morning. “We stated in the contract for the future that we want to fundamentally strengthen the individual responsibility of the schools. This also means that we want to give them the opportunity to set the start of school up to nine o’clock,” said Feller of the “Rheinische Post” (Düsseldorf). However, a decision by the school conference would be required for this, because not only the transport companies and municipalities, but also the parents should be involved in this decision. After all, they would have to reconcile family and work.
