Horror! ‘Heartbeat’ in Space Receives Mysterious Radio Signal from Nothing / WION NEWS

JAKARTA, kilat.com- We don’t know life beyond Earth. There is no conclusive evidence yet. We have tried contacting alien civilizations (if any). But we haven’t got any response till now.

However, it is interesting to imagine that there are indeed alien civilizations out there that are trying to contact us and have been unsuccessful, until now at least.

A ‘heartbeat’ like radio signal has been received by universities across the US and Canada.

These radio signals, coming from distant galaxies, flicker with surprising regularity. Such signals are called Fast Radio Bursts or FRBs. Generally, the FRB lasts for a few milliseconds. But this FRB has lasted 1000 times longer.

Scientists have found that an explosion occurs every 0.2 seconds. This is similar to a heartbeat. The FRB has been designated as FRB 20191221A by scientists.

This is the most durable FRB to date. The radio signal comes from a galaxy billions of light years away.

The source of the radio blast is unknown but scientists say it was a radio pulsar or magnetar that emitted this signal.

“There aren’t many things in the universe that emit strictly periodic signals,” said Daniele Michilli, a postdoc at MIT’s Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research.

“Examples that we know of in our own galaxy are radio pulsars and magnetars, which spin and produce beams similar to lighthouses. And we think this new signal could be a magnetar or pulsar on steroids.” The discovery has been reported in the journal Nature. (nda)
