Carl Bengtström is ready for the semifinals after a stable test heat in the 400 meter hurdles: “It was a bit rusty here and there, but ok”.
–
The second morning session in Eugene had two Swedes in the starting lists, Maja Nilsson in height and Carl Bengtström in the 400 meter hurdles.
Carl Bengtström apparently made it to the semis quite comfortably by finishing third in the last trial heat of 49.64.
– I’m happy, it’s a good race. It was a bit rusty here and there, but ok, said Carl Bengtström himself after the race.
– It feels good that he is on. Tip three it is perfect then he gets a good course in the semifinals, Carl Bengtström’s coach Erik Olsson told SVT.
You will see the semi-final with Carl Bengtström at 03.03 on Monday night, Swedish time.
No final for Maja Nilsson
There was no successful qualifier for Maja Nilsson in the height competition in the WC in Eugene. Her jumping looked stable all the way up to 1.90 when her first demolition came. However, she got over 1.90 in the third attempt, but then it did not get higher. Maja broke out at 1.93, which was not enough for the final, but she stayed in a fifteenth place.
– As you can understand, I am very disappointed. I can jump higher and I know it. But it’s just a matter of biting and coming again, said a Moloken Maja Nilsson after the competition.
Maja has had a feeling of injury in recent weeks and has not been able to get any continuity in the training. Now she is looking forward to the European Championships in Munich in August.
