Ex-United companions: Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho: hatchet finally buried?

Although Paul Pogba (29) celebrated his last title at club level under Jose Mourinho (59), the two superstars really did not have a good relationship with each other. The former now seems to have closed the matter.

Presenting himself as a new signing from Juventus, a reporter wanted to know how excited he was for the upcoming clash with Jose Mourinho and his AS Roma. However, the 2018 world champion didn’t bite and instead gave a very diplomatic answer.

“I think we’ll meet Mourinho on Matchday 3. Then we’ll meet Roma, who are a great team,” Pogba said matter-of-factly. “To be honest, I wasn’t thinking about Mourinho. I was thinking about winning every game. I would be very happy if we beat Mourinho, and Inzaghi, anyone. I just want to win.”

During his time at Manchester United, Jose Mourinho lifted the English League Cup and UEFA Europa League alongside Paul Pogba. Since then, the Red Devils and consequently Pogba, who remained at Old Trafford until his current move, have not won another trophy.

Both Mourinho and Pogba are considered difficult characters. With his player apparently not always following his instructions, Mou even reportedly dubbed Pogba a ‘virus’. The overall very bad relationship with the team finally cost Mourinho his job in Manchester in December 2018.
