the mayor shows his claws

Every summer, it’s the same distressing ritual. A community of travelers has once again settled in the Plaine stadium in Thionville. This is the fourth installation in a few days on municipal land, after Veymerange, on the route d’Arlon, the avenue de Douai and in Beuvange, rue du Lavoir. A last wild camp was spotted in Œutrange, but on a private field.

In all, there are no less than 120 caravans. According to the first elements collected by the municipal services, this population would be in transhumance before an evangelical meeting in Sainte-Marie-de-la-Mer as well as in Cambrai.

At the Stade de la Plaine, the ground would not have been completely invaded to be able to erect a tent there in order to celebrate masses there, the community having a pastor on site. On the other hand, the connection to water and electricity has been made…

“Scandalous! »

For my part, I will continue tirelessly, with the services, to limit the nuisances of these communities which are freed from all the rules of law”, he promised, also inviting the Thionvillois “not to give in to the mirages of the low-cost work offered by this community, which understood that the territory was juicy…”

The circus is no laughing matter

In the same order, namely that of freeing itself from all rules, a circus supposedly answering the name of Achille Zavatta son, settled since Wednesday in front of the roundabout which leads to Saint-Michel, in edge of the D14. “Despite any authorization”, fulminates Pierre Cuny who had even “prohibited its installation”.

Worse, the circus in question offers a show with wild animals, including big cats. “The town of Thionville has always welcomed the Gruss circus, for example, with kindness and with assurances that wild animals will no longer take part in shows, which is now the case. On the other hand, it is out of the question to welcome this type of attraction with a disregard for authorizations and safety rules, ”insists the mayor who alerted the prefecture, the national police and the prosecutor.

A deportation order was also drafted. In the meantime, the circus ticket office promises performances from July 16 to 31…
