‘Intel considers raising product prices by up to 20 percent’ – Computer – News

Intel will increase the prices of its products this fall, Nikkei Asia says. One of the sources says that a twenty percent price increase is mentioned, although it could be less for other products. The company would like to raise the majority of all prices.

The chipmaker would now inform customers of the upcoming price hikes, chip industry executives say against Nikkei Asia. It would concern products such as CPUs for both PCs and servers, but also other components, such as WiFi chips.

Intel is said to have not yet decided how much prices will rise. Presumably, the company does not want all prices to increase by the same percentage. One of the sources says that while some products are likely to be a few percent more expensive, other product prices could rise by 10 or 20 percent, or more.

Nikkei Asia notes that the market has an uncertain future and that it is difficult to set prices for products. On the one hand, many things in the supply chain are becoming more expensive, such as materials, shipping and labor. High inflation means that customers have less to spend on products. Intel said it is already investigating price increases in the quarterly figures. The company now confirms to inform customers within the sector about those price increases.
