Romelu Lukaku admit a big mistake when leaving Inter Milan last season to Chelsea. Now he is determined to pay for his crime.

Lukaku was outstanding for Inter when he was bought in 2019. Two years in the Nerazzurri shirt, Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 appearances across all competitions.

Lukaku was instrumental in guiding Inter to their first Scudetto in 11 years and propelled the club to the Europa League final. However, the departure of Antonio Conte as coach in the summer of 2021 changed everything.

Chelsea then came to woo Lukaku to return to Stamford Bridge. The offer was accepted in the hope that Lukaku could pay off his debt to Chelsea fans because he never performed well in his first period in the blue and blue uniform.

Unfortunately, Lukaku even broke down and later regretted his move to Chelsea. Purchased for 97.5 million pounds, Lukaku only scored 14 goals that saw him eliminated from the first team this summer.

Lukaku decided to return to Inter on loan until the end of this season. Lukaku admits he made a mistake by leaving Inter and will pay for it with goals and trophies.

Moreover, Inter Milan fans once said they would not support Lukaku because he was still sick last season.

“The biggest challenge in my career is this season. I left and I made a mistake, didn’t I Nico?” Romelu Lukaku to Nicolo Barella during the unveiling of the new Inter Milan jersey.

“Now I’m happy wearing this jersey, the team knows what we need, this season will be a big challenge and we have to keep it like this.” Football Italia.

“I realized when I played in England last season, how big Inter are in the world. The club is getting bigger at international level, their approach on social media is also very important and you can see how we are in the dressing room, in training, hugging and joking.”
