“Bulgarians can have a peaceful summer,” reassured the Prime Minister
There are no and are not expected to be restrictions related to closing businesses, there are no requirements for COVID certificates in the country and no restrictions on movement are foreseen. This was announced at a briefing in the Council of Ministers by the resigned Prime Minister Kiril Petkov after a meeting with the health authorities.
“Most of Bulgaria is in Stage 0, with a few areas in Stage 1. We are monitoring the situation very carefully, but the data shows that Bulgarians can have a peaceful summer,” he added.
The chief state health inspector Assoc. Angel Kunchev pointed out that the growth of diseases continues, but it is far from the peak values a few months ago.
“The increase in the number of cases will continue, but if this does not lead to a more severe course, to a burden on the health system, does not put the lives and health of patients at risk, we will deal with this situation,” he said.
Epidemiologists believe that peak values will be reached in August and then a gradual normalization will begin. No one in the world could have predicted whether there would be a new wave in the fall.
“The situation at the moment is very different from the one we had two years ago. The characteristics of this variant of the virus are different – it spreads more easily and quickly, but does not lead to such a high need for hospitalization and treatment, it is milder”, explained Prof. Kunchev.
