Sixteen Lotois firefighters set off from the Cahors logistics platform on Friday 8 July 2022 around 5 h to Nîmes, as part of a forest fire preventive reinforcement column*.
Logistics
On board 4 forest fire tankers, the Lotois firefighters first headed towards Montauban, where 4 personnel from Tarn-et-Garonne completed the forest fire intervention group.
The Lotois Group joined the column (3 forest fire intervention groups (GIFF)* i.e. 12 tank trucks plus a command group) in Toulouse. They were joined by the intervention groups of Gers and Hautes-Pyrénées, under the command of Haute-Garonne.
Committed on several fronts
The column was expected in Nîmes at 12 h.
Placed in the communes of La Bastide-d’Engras, Clarensac, Montpezat (30), on preventive intervention detachment (DIP), the column was notably engaged in the commune of Sainte-Anastasie (30) for a vegetation fire . The column worked alongside Canadairs from civil security and water bomber helicopters from the Gard Departmental Fire and Rescue Service.
La Colonne was stationed outside DIP, at rest, on the Foreign Legion regiment of Lauzun-l’Ardoise.
Back in the Lot
La Colonne was disengaged on Sunday night and returned to the Lot department in the afternoon of Monday 11 July 2022.
16 personnel from the fire and rescue centers of the departmental management, from Souillac, Figeac, Cahors, Bagnac, Luzech, Saint-Cere, Gramat, Bretenoux, Castelfranc and Vayrac-Betaille were engaged on this column reinforcement.
*Column: a column is made up of a command group and three GIFFs.
**GIFF (Forest Fire Intervention Group) made up of a light command vehicle and four Forest Fire Cistern Trucks.
