The Pininfarina 4×4 that moves with hydrogen capsules

Faouzi Annajah and Thomas de Lussac, the co-founders of Namx, have relied on the Pininfarina design center to present the HUV, the world’s first car partially propelled by a tank system with removable hydrogen capsules. The vehicle has been designed in collaboration with Pininfarina, which has given it a pure and muscular style. The hydrogen fuel cell SUV is equipped with a fixed tank and six removable capsules that provide a range of up to 800 kilometres.

The use of capsules as secondary tanks is an innovation that opens the door to the large-scale deployment of hydrogen for private vehicles through a new energy distribution model on demand, fully decentralized, fast and green. The HUV and its technology upholds the promise of freedom that accompanies the automobile and places it in a sustainable future, where mobility develops in harmony with the environment.

A futuristic SUV designed with style

The inventiveness of Thomas de Lussac, also the designer of the Namx, was enhanced by the unique knowledge of Kevin Rice, Creative Director of Pininfarina, and his teams to design a prototype that is resolutely future-oriented and inspired in many ways.

Fascinated by science fiction, Lussac chose to design the vehicle inspired by the American design of the 50s and 60s, the “Muscle Cars”. The Namx HUV is powerful and Pininfarina has brought Italian elegance and an unrivaled sense of proportion and detail to the design, right down to the brand’s X embossed on the doors in continuous, repeating lines on the grille.

How many versions will it have?

It will be marketed in two different versions: a basic rear-wheel drive with 300 hp for a maximum speed of 200 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds; a 550 hp four-wheel drive GTH version capable of reaching 250 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The HUV will be marketed from the fourth quarter of 2025 with a price range of between 65,000 and 95,000 euros, depending on the options selected.

The SUV could probably be the first car in Pininfarina’s history designed from the back to the front. The project began by first designing the removable hydrogen tanks and understanding how best to integrate them into the car from a functional, ergonomic and user experience point of view. Taking into account the positioning of its occupants and the intricate packing of the tanks and rear, the overall volume of the vehicle began to take shape. The Namx HUV will be unveiled to the public in Paris next fall at the Paris Motor Show. It can already be booked on the Namx.tech website.
