Former US President Donald Trump is planning a large rally on July 15. But it falls into the water. Reason is a subpoena in New York.
New York – Donald Trump actually wanted to perform in Greensboro on July 15. But nothing will come of it now. The former US President had to cancel the planned event in the US state of North Carolina at short notice. And why? Because he has to be somewhere else that day. Trump has to testify under oath in New York.
“Former President Trump and his adult children Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are scheduled to testify under oath on July 15 as part of an investigation by the New York Attorney General into his finances,” Axios reported.
Donald Trump cancels appearance – because he has to testify under oath
This is bitter for the organizers in Greensboro, who had announced big things. After all, Donald Trump was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the American Freedom Tour event. Donald Trump Jr. and his partner Kimberly Guilfoyle should also appear there. But now everything has to be postponed – due to “unforeseen circumstances”, as the organizers put it.
So Donald Trump won’t be spending July 15 stirring up his fans in the fight for the White House. For this he has to deal with the investigations of a New York prosecutor against him and his family that day.
New York Attorney General Letitia James has been investigating the Trump family for some time. James said in January 2022 that their civil investigation found that the Trump Organization fraudulently overvalued several assets “for economic gain.”
Several investigations are underway against Donald Trump
At the same time, the Manhattan Attorney’s Office is conducting criminal investigations into possible financial crimes and insurance fraud by Trump Corporation. In July 2021, charges were brought against the Trump Organization and its longtime chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg. The defendants then pleaded not guilty. The process is scheduled to begin in 2022.
Ever since he was voted out, Donald Trump has been complaining about a kind of “witch hunt” against him, for which he likes to blame what he calls “radical left-wing Antifa”. All investigations are politically motivated. Letitia James is a member of the Democrats. (cs)
