The murder of the Swedish psychiatrist Ing-Marie Wieselgren during Almedalsveckan on Gotland is being investigated as terrorism, the prosecution informs.
Säpo has taken over the investigation of the murder that took place on July 6 during the week-long political event in Visby.
The 32-year-old who has been arrested and charged with the murder, has acknowledged the facts, according to his lawyer. The man has for several years been active in the neo-Nazi group Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR), according to Expressen and Aftonbladet.
There are no more suspects in the case, the prosecution said on Monday.
64-year-old Wieselgren worked as a national coordinator for psychiatric issues in SKR, the member and employer organization for Swedish municipalities and regions.
Swedish police said last week that the murder was targeted and linked to the victim’s public profile. The 32-year-old’s defender said he had planned the murder for several days.
