Previously, Zelensky has urged its diplomats to garner international support and military assistance for Ukraine, as the country continues to struggle to fend off the invasion Russia which started on February 24.
Ukraine’s relations with Germany, which depend heavily on Russia’s energy supplies and are also Europe’s largest economy, have been a particular sensitive issue.
The two countries are currently at loggerheads over a German-made turbine that is undergoing maintenance in Canada. The German government wants Canada to return the turbines to the natural gas giant RussiaGazprom to pump gas to Europe.
However, the Ukrainian government has urged Canada to keep the turbines, stating that shipping the turbines to Russia would be a violation of sanctions imposed on Moscow.
