New district office could be built next to the Freiburg town hall in Stühlinger – Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district

The Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district office wants to move – but where to? That was unclear for a long time. Now there are indications that a huge administrative site could be built in the Stühlinger district of Freiburg.

The Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district office is to be rebuilt – for legal reasons back in Freiburg. The city has now suggested a possible plot of land right next to its own town hall in Stühlinger for the relocation of around 1,200 employees of the district office. According to District Administrator Dorothea Störr-Ritter and Freiburg’s building mayor Martin Haag, the city and district should also cooperate more closely in administrative work and seek synergies. The political bodies have to decide on this.

At its meeting on July 18, the district council must decide whether this idea will be pursued further in principle. A week later, the project comes before the Freiburg municipal council. The new building could create a huge administration site in Stühlinger, as the city plans to build two more of its own administration buildings there.
The district office wants to give up the current location next to the Stadtgarten in Freiburg, as investments in fire protection of 25 to 30 million euros are required.
