TRIBUN-BALI.COMKLUNGKUNG – The Klungkung Agriculture Service received reports of resident livestock suspecting PMK (Oral and Nail Disease) in the Klungkung Strait Village.
Extermination or conditional slaughter of sick livestock was immediately carried out, Sunday, July 10, 2022 yesterday.
“After receiving reports of livestock that suspect PMK, we immediately carried out conditional slaughter directly at the location of the cattle.”
“So that the cattle do not move, and have the opportunity to spread the PMK virus,” said the Chairperson PMK Klungkung Task ForceI Gede Putu Winastra, Sunday 10 July 2022.
According to him, this conditional slaughter is a procedure that has been determined from the central government, for handling livestock suspected of PMK.
There are several provisions in this conditional cut, namely the cuts are carried out under strict supervision from the PMK Task Force.
Meanwhile, what can be taken or used is only the meat.
Considering that FMD is not transmitted to humans, and the meat is still safe to eat if cooked thoroughly.
Meanwhile, the head, bones and offal were buried immediately.
“We also immediately carried out disinfection around the location of these sick cattle. We made sure that all procedures were carried out, so that this PMK disease did not spread,” explained Winastra, who is also the Regional Secretary of Klungkung Regency.
