The province of Jujuy opened the 2022 winter tourist season this Saturday and received the first visitors with a folk music show, the opening of a crafts fair and with “high levels of reservation and hotel occupancy”, according to sources from the local Ministry of Tourism.
Plaza España, located in the heart of San Salvador de Jujuy, was the setting chosen for the start of the winter season, where the exhibition for the sale of virtuous handicrafts and music from Quebrada roots was combined, lighting up visitors.
During a simple act he entertained himself with service voucher, various reminders and presents to the first tourists who arrived in the province in the extreme north of the country from Brazil, Uruguay, Buenos Aires and Neuquén.
Likewise, under a festive atmosphere, certificates were awarded to the artisans who make up the Provincial Registry of Artisans, who will exhibit ceramic pieces, fabrics and paintings characteristic of the different regions of Jujuy throughout the holidays.
“We did not want to stop entertaining the first tourists of the winter season that begins with high levels of hotel occupancy, so we believe that we are going to have four full weeks in Jujuy”said the provincial Minister of Culture and Tourism, Federico Posadas.
In this framework, he celebrated that the regions such as Valles, Yungas, Quebrada de Humahuaca and Puna, “They are in high demand by visitors, as reflected in San Salvador, which was previously a place of passage and is now consolidated as a recipient of tourists.”
“We are with hotel reservation levels of 80% for the first two weeks as a floor, so we will surely reach a 90% occupancy and above that percentage towards the end of July”complete.
Musical shows scheduled for every weekend of the winter holidays in the provincial capital, together with an outstanding artisan fair, will synthesize the part of cultural attraction for the current season.
“Jujuy has an impressive diversity of landscapes and culture throughout its 55,000 square kilometers, which is why it reaffirms itself as one of the provinces with the greatest identity in the country,” Posadas said.
The day was enlivened with a music concert that summoned the artists Generación Guari, Oriana Reyes, the female group Albahaca, and the closing of the consecrated Humahuaqueños artists, José Simón, Churos Changos and the teacher Fortunato Ramos.
According to statistics from official tourism agencies, “More than 50 percent of the visitors who come to the province do so for the second or third time and this means that they always come back to ‘Jujuy’”.
