jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The fate of the Indonesian U-19 National Team is on the brink. The reason is that the certainty of qualifying or not for the Garuda Nusantara Squad from Group A of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup depends on the results of other matches.
The match in question is the Vietnam-Thailand meeting. The match between the two teams that currently occupy the top position and runners-up in Group A of the AFF U-19 Cup is expected to end with one of the teams coming out victorious.
Indonesian U-19 National Team may be the team that has the best goal difference in Group A. However, in the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup rules, scoring a lot of goals is not a guarantee of being able to get the highest position in the group if they have the same points as other teams.
Referring to the rule that two or more teams have the same points, then what is applied is the head to head calculation between teams with the same points. If Indonesia manages to beat Myanmar with any score, the Indonesian U-19 National Team will automatically collect eleven points.
The points are the same as those owned by Vietnam and Thailand if they play a draw, Sunday (10/7), tomorrow night. Currently, Vietnam and Thailand have ten points. With the calculation of Indonesia winning and Vietnam vs Thailand drawing, then there are three teams that have 11 points.
This simulation puts Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand in the same position for the value. The standings of these same teams are then made by looking at their head to head. This means that if Vietnam and Thailand draw 0-0, then the calculation is considered equally strong, because before that, Indonesia also played 0-0 against Vientam and Thailand.
However, if Thailand and Vietnam draw 1-1, 2-2 and so on, then Vietnam and Thailand will qualify. Because, both teams have better goal aggressiveness than Indonesia when it is calculated head to head three teams with the same points.
This means that no matter how many goals Indonesia has scored previously, it will no longer be considered. Marselino Ferdinand’s injury is also unfortunate, because in the end, Indonesia’s fate had to depend on the result of Vietnam against Thailand.
