How to use Unsend on Facebook Messenger to delete videos
In 2018, Facebook introduced an option to delete sent messages for all included parties, as long as users did so within the 10-minute window. Nowadays, there is no time limit and you can delete messages and media files you shared whenever you want. For you and for the recipients.
So the conveniently named Unsend feature is still alive and well and you can use it to delete text messages, videos, photos or attachments with ease. You can also unsend videos while they’re uploading before they reach Facebook’s servers.
Here’s how to delete a sent video on Facebook Messenger:
- open Messenger and select the conversation.
- Touch and hold the video and select Remove in the bottom bar.
- Toque Do not send to completely remove it from the conversation for all included parties.
- You can also touch delete for delete a video from the chat just for you.
By deleting it, your recipients will see that the message was not sent. Note that if the conversation is reported and Facebook is doing an evaluation, the deleted video will appear to them.
Also, you won’t be notified if the recipients download or forward the videos before you delete them for everyone. If you are really embarrassed about the messages you send, you can use the Vanish mode which will delete the seen messages the moment you close the chat.
Or alternatively you can use Secret Conversations. This option brings end-to-end encryption to Messenger messages and calls along with disappearing messages. You can set a time period when messages will be automatically deleted. From 5 seconds and up to 24 hours.
To enable Vanish Mode or Secret Conversations, tap the “i” icon in the top right corner of a conversation/chat window. You should see both options in the list of features.
