$6 million for a Centerville company

A company in Centreville, near Florenceville-Bristol, has received provincial contracts worth $6 million since 2021.

The provincial government awarded six contracts totaling $6 million for Metalfab Ltd.

The company specializes in the manufacture of fire trucks and firefighting equipment. It has served as a provider in different communities across the country for almost 50 years.

The announcement was made during a visit by Service New Brunswick Minister Mary Wilson to the company’s facilities.

“The success of our local businesses plays a vital role in building vibrant and viable communities,” she said.

“This has allowed us to maintain a critical mass of local suppliers and employees, which is essential to the growth of the business,” said Metalfab Ltd. President Gordon Green.

The government has not specified what the money paid to Metalfab will actually be used for or whether these investments will lead to the creation of jobs.

This initiative was made as part of the “New Brunswick First” procurement strategy launched in 2020. It supports the private sector and local businesses to improve the economic development of the province.

It is the result of a collaboration between Service New Brunswick, Opportunities NB and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.
