Düsseldorf: Germany’s largest gas importer Uniper has applied for state support. The company ran into financial difficulties because Russia had cut back on its gas supplies to Germany. There have not yet been any concrete decisions on how the federal government should help Uniper. Chancellor Scholz has not yet commented specifically on this. At the trade fair in Munich, he only said that the federal government had made a political decision to help the company. Discussions have already started and are now being intensified. – It is conceivable that the federal government will get involved with the energy supplier. Uniper is also requesting loans from the state development bank KfW. Uniper plays a central role in Germany’s energy supply and supplies many municipal utilities.
