That was decided at the MPK in January
The number of infections is very high, the measures are tailored to this and therefore everything remains the same as before with the Corona rules. So there should continue to be strict contact restrictions, “anywhere where a lot of people come together”said Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). “We don’t yet know how the number of infections will develop.” It is therefore important “that we must remain cautious”.
federal and state governments “I came to the conclusion that essentially everything should remain as it is now for the next few weeks”said Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU).
Access to PCR tests will be restricted
Given the scarcity of PCR tests, the tests are no longer made available to everyone. The very reliable PCR tests for detecting a coronavirus infection should only be used for particularly vulnerable groups and the staff in clinics and nursing homes. In the future, even after a positive rapid test, all other people should only use a second rapid test to check whether they are infected and have to be isolated.
Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) will work out a changed test regime in consultation with his colleagues from the federal states.
Vaccination campaign is being expanded
Scholz also announced that he wanted to step up the vaccination campaign. In addition to posters with the motto inscription “Vaccination helps” there should now also be more calls on the radio and on social media platforms. The aim is to convince as many people as possible to get the vaccination over the next few days and weeks – above all about the first vaccination and the third, the booster vaccination.
How does Corona progress in vaccinated people?
Wednesday first debate on compulsory vaccination in Parliament
The chairman of the conference of prime ministers, North Rhine-Westphalia’s head of state Hendrik Wüst (CDU), repeated demands from the state heads for general vaccination. You can only get out of recurring lockdowns and easing if more people are vaccinated, he said. The Bundestag must decide on compulsory vaccination. There will be a first orientation debate in Parliament on Wednesday.
