The most beautiful pitch in the Bundesliga is in Vienna-Hütteldorf. As the footballers’ union VdF announced on Friday, Rapid’s green was rated best by the players in the past season.
The Viennese (average 8.56 out of 10 possible points) won the “Pitch Competition” just ahead of SCR Altach (8.38) and Red Bull Salzburg (8.31). Bottom of the ranking was WSG Tirol (5.31), rented in Innsbruck’s Tivoli Stadium.
In the 2nd league, SV Horn took the lead ahead of Juniors OÖ and St. Pölten. Overall, the VdF found an improved turf quality. “Compliments to the greenkeepers and their assistants. The rating of the places increased by more than 0.5 points per league on average over the year in the Bundesliga and the 2nd league,” noted project manager Gregor Pötscher. The soccer players of the guest team can vote in the survey after the respective away game.
