Lavrov: – Ready to negotiate

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov attended the G20 summit in Indonesia on Friday, but chose to leave early.

Lavrov is still holding bilateral talks. Then he will talk to the press and leave, says spokeswoman Maria Zakharova for the Russian Foreign Ministry to DPA on Friday morning.

In connection with the meeting, Lavrov says that Russia is now ready to negotiate with Ukraine and Turkey.

Russia is ready to negotiate with Ukraine and Turkey on grain, but it is unclear when such talks can take place,” the foreign minister said, according to Reuters.

Scolded other countries

Several participants in the meeting are said to have called on Lavrov to end the war against Ukraine, but were met with anger from the foreign minister, who scolded Russia’s “rivals” and dismissed all criticism from the West directed at the warring country.

“During the discussion, Western partners avoided following the mandate of the G20, when it came to dealing with questions about the world economy,” Lavrov said at the meeting.

Commented on assassination attempts

At the same time, he used the opportunity to deepen his condolences in connection with the assassination of the former Japanese Prime Minister.

– I do not know what is behind this assassination attempt. I found out about it during the meeting. I was the first to start the speech by expressing my condolences to my Japanese colleague for what happened. There will probably be an investigation. I have nothing more to add, says Lavrov.
