For the past two summers, tourism has been evolving at the rate of health restrictions. This year, it is the budget of the French which will condition their summer.
“We are optimistic about the lifting of restrictions,” begins Carole Rossi, director of Eure-et-Loir Tourisme. “We know it’s a good thing for us, even if these same restrictions had allowed us to attract people to our territory, tourists should come back. »
premium Kayak, paddle, sylvotherapy, gold panning… What the Guide du Routard offers to discover France differently
Having been able to do well in 2020 and 2021, the department hopes to continue to seduce thanks to its new little notoriety:
“We say to ourselves above all that the French will again bet on local tourism this summer. But maybe not for the same reasons…”

Indeed, the purchasing power of the French having reduced considerably, some inhabitants of central and northern France could bet on Eure-et-Loir for their summer holidays.
The cost of gasoline
Carole Rossi, points out that the price of transport, due to the cost of fuel, but also to the high prices of train and plane journeys, in the summer, do not allow some French people to go on vacation at the edge of the water. She comments:
“We now realize that the price of a round trip between the Centre-Val de Loire region or Île-de-France and the Mediterranean Sea or the Atlantic Ocean costs almost as much as a week in accommodation . It’s unfortunate but it should play a huge role this summer. And in this new reality, the department has a card to play. »

Eure-et-Loir Tourisme hopes to attract families and groups of friends from the Centre-Val de Loire region, as well as from Île-de-France. “Instead of driving more than five hours to reach the south, they drive between one or two, go less far, and find everything they need to have fun with us. »
The Chartres campsite presents its new accommodation: the ecolodges
By spending less on transport, and less on accommodation, which is more affordable in Eure-et-Loir than along the coast, “the French can enjoy activities much more, without having to tighten their belts elsewhere”.
Tourism: the bad 2021 season is confirmed in Eure-et-Loir and in the Centre-Val de Loire, despite the best
This type of tourism, of ultra-proximity, could even last only one, two or three nights, even only one day. “We also think that Euréliens will be encouraged to move around their department, to enjoy close to home and thus contribute to local tourism, too. You might as well live fully during a short stay, close to home and have fun. Our luck is that we have the countryside, a beautiful heritage and tourist towns. »
As in 2019
The whole department is affected by tourism today.
“Chartres is inevitably very struck but the countryside of Perche and Beauce is very attractive for outdoor activities that bring people together. These are simple things in life but really relaxing. »

According to Eure-et-Loir Tourisme, Chartres would also struggle to regain its tourist occupation of the years preceding the Covid. “It’s true that urban stays are less popular, although foreign customers remain attached to them. In July, August and September, customers from northern Europe, mainly Belgians, Germans and Dutch, show that Chartres remains a destination of choice. “As for the American clientele, it will remain timid this year. We will have to wait for the year. »
The tourist season should be similar to that of 2019 “or even better”, advances Carole Rossi. “We want to regain our cruising speed of 2019, when tourism had been very good. I think we can do it, we’ll see at the end of September. »
