“As a regulator, the Ministry of Religion has the administrative power to limit the space for institutions in which it is suspected of committing serious violations of the law,” Waryono said in Jakarta.
Waryono said that this decisive action was taken because one of its leaders, Moch Subchi Azal Tsani (42) alias Bechi, was a police officer in the case of molestation and bullying of his students. The pesantren is also considered to have obstructed the legal process against the person concerned.
Waryono said obscenity is not only a criminal act that violates the law, but also behavior that is prohibited by religious teachings.
“The Ministry of Religion fully supports the legal steps that have been taken by the police to thoroughly investigate the case,” Waryono explained.
Furthermore, Waryono said his party would coordinate with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion in East Java, the Ministry of Religion in Jombang, as well as a number of parties. It aims to ensure that students can continue the learning process and gain access to proper education.
“No less important is that the parents of students or their families can understand the decisions taken and help the Ministry of Religion. Don’t worry, the Ministry of Religion will synergize with Islamic boarding schools and madrasas within the Ministry of Religion for the continuation of the education of the students,” said Waryono.
In this case, the police have named the son of the kiai of the Shiddiqiyyah Islamic Boarding School, Bechi, as a suspect in the alleged molestation of an underage woman from Central Java.
Today, the police made an effort to forcefully pick up Bechi, who is a suspect in a sexual harassment case and is on the wanted list (DPO). This effort was made after the police had been handling this case for a long time.
Hundreds of joint personnel from the Jombang Police and the East Java Regional Police as well as Brimob troops were deployed to surround the Shiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School, where Bechi is located.
As of Thursday afternoon, the police had not been able to arrest the suspect in the sexual abuse of female students, Moch Subchi Azal Tsani alias Bechi (42). Fully armed troops rushed to the location at 07.30 WIB.
Officials searched Bechi’s hiding place and searched several locations inside the pesantren. The police checked all the rooms, the graves, even the toilets.
