Beware of Excess Calcium, Can Cause Serious Heart Problems

JAKATA, celebrities.id – Lots calcium in the body will maximize bone function it turned out not to be entirely true. In fact, excess calcium can cause heart problem seriously.

Consumption calcium supplement become one of the most sought after by the community during a pandemic like now. It is also believed that the consumption of vitamin D can increase the body’s immunity.

However, the concept ‘if too much is not good’ applies to calcium consumption. Yes, those who consume calcium supplements or get calcium intake through daily food intake that is very high can experience serious heart problems.

This was conveyed by Bone Health Experts Prof. Ruslan Nazaruddin Simanjuntakthat someone whose body calcium levels are high have a risk of experiencing serious heart health problems.

“Too much calcium in the body can actually cause heart problems, even the cases can be severe,” said Prof Ruslan when interviewed at ALTY Orthopedic Hospital, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia quoted on Thursday (7/7/2022).

Moreover, said Prof. Ruslan, there is a misunderstanding in society about calcium. I don’t know where it started, but there is a high belief that calcium in the body actually makes the body healthier. On the contrary.

“Moreover, people need to know that calcium will not be active if there is no vitamin D. So, how much calcium the body gets, either through supplements or food intake, yes, it will not be active if there is no vitamin D,” he said.

The most effective vitamin D in providing benefits to the body is sunbathing under 10 in the morning. This natural vitamin D not only increases the body’s immunity, but also activates calcium which is necessary for bone health.

“So, if you eat a lot of calcium supplements, but not accompanied by sunbathing or exposure to direct sunlight, yes, the calcium just comes out. Nothing is absorbed by the body and provides benefits,” said Prof. Ruslan.
