Complicated! Manchester United offer Antony €60 million, Ajax ask for more

Negotiations for Antony’s transfer to Old Trafford are complicated as the Dutch giants are reluctant to lower the player’s price.

Manchester United made a bid of €60 million for Antony, but Ajax insisted on keeping their tag of €80 million.

The Red Devils have been in talks to sign the young Brazilian, with his agent having been in Europe since the end of the 2021/22 season trying to finalize a deal.

United have approached Ajax to discuss a transfer fee for the 22-year-old, but the Eredivisie champions are still unwilling to meet Old Trafford’s bid.

Antony’s transfer potential has stalled because of Ajax’s demands.

The Amsterdam club are asking for almost €80 million, despite the player’s agent urging them to meet a lower offer put forward by United.

Antony wants to continue his career with the English Premier League team, it’s just that negotiations at this stage are still complicated.

Ajax wants Antony to stay

Antony’s contract at Ajax runs until 2025 and new coach Alfred Schreuder expects the Brazil international to stay.

He said to ESPN recently: “It’s clear that we want to keep the boy. I think he still has a contract until 2025. I really want to work with him; he knows that, and the club knows that too.”

The former Sao Paulo forward joined the Dutch side in 2020 and has made 78 appearances in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 19 assists.
