Freiburg: Walk to the green building in the Waldsee on Monday, July 11, at 5 p.m. – Green buildings help with adaptation and contribute to climate protection

Record temperatures, tropical nights and ever longer periods of drought: climate change is also becoming increasingly evident in Freiburg. Green buildings help with adaptation and contribute to climate protection. The climate adaptation manager of the city of Freiburg, Verena Hilgers, shows what this can look like in concrete terms during a walk through the Waldsee climate district on Monday, July 11, at 5 p.m.

Green roofs and facades not only help to protect the climate, but also offer numerous other advantages: In summer, the buildings heat up less and evaporated water on the surface of the leaves actively cools the environment. Plants also protect houses from corrosion.

Together with Florian Feutel from the company Vertiko, the municipal climate adaptation manager visits examples of greening in the Waldsee climate district, provides information on funding and answers all questions relating to the topic. Interested parties can register by sending an email to [email protected] with the subject “greening walk”. The meeting point is at the corner of Möslestraße/Oberrieder Straße.
