TODAY’S STAGE AND THE SECTORS IN PAVÉ
LIVE LIVE OF TODAY’S STAGE OF THE GIRO D’ITALIA DONNE
14.39 Who knows if even in a stage like today and with six men on the run who will take points, we will see a battle between the sprinters for the points of the flying finish line.
14.38 There are 5 km to go to the intermediate finish in Merignies.
14.36 We offer you the profile of the race, with all the pavé sectors marked:
14.33 The first 30 km of running have flown. The hourly average so far is 50.7 km / h.
14.32 The gap of the group rises beyond two minutes.
14.30 Pace that is decidedly dropped in the group. Many runners take the opportunity to eat or for a physiological break.
2.28pm Questions on behalf of the fugitives: Magnus Cort and Neilson Powless (EF Education EasyPost), Taco Van der Hoorn (Intermarket Wanty Gobert Materials), Edvald Boasson Hagen (TotalEnergies), Simon Clarke (Israel-First Tech) and Alexis Gougeard (B&B). Hotels – KTTM).
14.26 In fact, the reunification arrives. We therefore have a sextet in mind.
14.25 Cort begins to turn around. He was probably warned that the group has slowed down and that there is a teammate among the three pursuers.
14.24 After the first 20 km of running.
14.23 The group now seems to have slowed down, the gap rises to 1’10 “.
14.21 The start of the Tour for Magnus Cort is exceptional. The Dane, formerly Maglia a Pois and on the run every day, attacked again today, in a stage without GPM.
14.20 The postings remain substantially unchanged. It will be tough for Clarke, Powless and Gougeard to get back on top of the race.
14.18 Other attacks in the group while Max Walscheid of Cofidis is the protagonist of a bad fall. The German however repaired immediately.
14.17 The three leaders now have 25 “on the three pursuers and 45” on the group.
14.15 EF Education EasyPost was very aggressive, we also saw Rigoberto Uran attempting an extension.
14.14 A counterattack by three riders starts. These are Simon Clarke (Israel Premier Tech), Neilson Powless (EF) and Alexis Gougeard (B&B Hotels KTM).
14.12 Mathieu Van der Poel remains in the queue for the moment. The Yellow Jersey of Van Aert is instead seen in the top positions.
14.10 After the first 10 km. Always leading Magnus Cort (EF), Edvald Boasson Hagen (TotalEnergies) and Taco Van der Hoorn (Intermarché). The group is very stretched and chases 15 ”away.
14.07 10 ”for the three on the run. From behind there are many who try to stretch.
14.05 The trio gains a few seconds, but the group doesn’t give up.
14.03 With Edvald Boasson Hagen and Taco Van der Hoorn.
14.03 A familiar face to the attack from the first moment. Magnus Cort is still on the run!
14.01 LET’S GO! THE FIFTH STAGE OF THE TOUR HAS BEGUN!
13.59 1 km to the official start, we will see if it will be enough to regroup the group.
13.58 Still stationary at the bottom of the Sagan group. With him also Dylan Van Baarle.
13.57 There is great nervousness already in the transfer section. Everyone wants to be in the top positions.
13.56 Fall in group! Kevin Vermaerke of Team DSM on the ground breaking the group. We will have to wait for the late runners.
13.54 Ben O’Connor also requests the help of the flagship. 3 km to the start.
13.53 In the last two occasions in which the Tour has proposed a stage on the cobblestones, there have been no great gaps between the men in the standings. A different story for 2014 when, also due to the rain, Vincenzo Nibali was able to take a huge advantage over his rivals in a stage that also saw the retirement of Chris Froome.
13.51 5 km to the official start.
13.50 Kevin Geniets of Groupama-FDJ also stops due to a mechanical problem.
13.48 Overcast sky but that does not seem to threaten rain. This is certainly good news for runners.
13.47 Filippo Ganna stops at the flagship. The blue could play his chances, as well as being fundamental for his INEOS Grenadiers, a team in which Dylan Van Baarle, the latest winner in Roubaix, also plays.
13.44 We have mentioned Van Aert and Sagan, we cannot fail to mention also Mathieu Van der Poel. Dutch has remained somewhat covered in these early days. Today could be his day.
13.41 Immediately forced to stop Peter Sagan, another candidate for success, as well as one of the three winners of the Paris-Roubaix racing today. I change bikes for him, we don’t know why for now.
13.40 Here is an image from the race that portrays the runners moments before starting to pedal:

13.38 First half of the quiet stage, then all hell will break loose in the last 77 km, where all the cobblestones will be concentrated. As in Roubaix, the sectors are numbered in descending order, starting with number 11.
13.36 Here the riders move their first rides. Long stretch of transfer, 13 km before the official departure.
13.35 The riders are lined up for the start. In front of all the yellow jersey Wout Van Aert, one of the big favorites of the day. With him also Pogacar in the white jersey, Cort in the polka dot jersey and Jakobsen in the green jersey.
13.33 An opportunity for many to write a piece of history, but at the same time one day feared by many, especially among the men of the ranking. Today it can also be an important fraction for the general.
13.31 The long awaited day has arrived! Today we run on the legendary roads of Paris-Roubaix, 11 sectors of cobblestones for a total of 19.4 km on the stones! A stage that will give an exceptional show.
13.28 Friends of OA Sport, fans of great cycling, good morning and welcome to LIVE LIVE of the fifth stage of the Tour de France 2022!
Friends of OA Sport, fans of great cycling, good morning and welcome to LIVE LIVE of the fifth stage of the Tour de France 2022! The long-awaited day has arrived, today the great protagonists will be the stones! A stage that could also be important for the general and that certainly will not fail to give a great show.
We start from Lille on a path that does not offer any difficulty in the first half. In the second part, however, the music changes decisively. 11 sectors of cobblestones for a total of 19.4 km concentrated entirely in the last 77 km of the race for what will be a spectacular battle.
Many men in the rankings have repeatedly expressed their fears for a stage that can confront them with unique and incomparable difficulties to the rest of the race. At the same time, however, it could be an opportunity for many to take advantage of the difficulties of others and gain seconds.
Many, on the other hand, will think exclusively of the stage success. Between them the first two will be the two great rivals Wout Van Aert and Mathieu Van der Poel. The first comes from a crazy victory and will be for the third day in the Yellow Jersey, the second has remained quite covered so far and will be ready to unleash all its power.
If a duel between the two aforementioned is perhaps the dream scenario for many fans, the candidates for success certainly do not stop there. Dylan Van Baarle on this road won the Roubaix a few months ago and will be ready to repeat, as will Peter Sagan, another old winner of theHell of the North. Also keep an eye on Stefan Küng, Yves Lampaert, Matej Mohoric and Mads Pedersen.
Riders on the saddle at 13.35, final expected around 17.20. Through LIVE LIVE curated by OA Sport, you will have real-time updates for the entire duration of the stage: stay in our company, fun is guaranteed! See you later!
