Slovak cyclist Peter Sagan took 5th place in the 4th stage of the 109th edition of the Tour de France. The winner was the Belgian Wout van Aert from the Jumbo-Visma team, who prevailed after a breakaway on the final climb and reached the finish line alone, completing the 171.5 km long route from Dunkirk to Calais in 4:01:36 h. In the subsequent sprint, his compatriot Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) finished second with a deficit of eight seconds, and third was the native Christophe Laporte (Jumbo-Visma).

In the competition for the green jersey, Sagan moved up to 3rd place when he scored 26 points – 10 points on the sprint premium and 16 at the finish. He has a total of 80 points and the leader Van Aert loses 90 of them.
“I thought there would be more people going up that hill, but he did it alone. By the time all the sprinters got back to the front, it was too late. Not much for me, it was quite a fast sprint, not very for me and I didn’t feel very good thing i should win” Sagan told RTVS.
