“What was I doing today when Jumbo Visma launched their attack? I rode my bike and fought for positions in the field. (Laughs) We could expect something like that. Wout van Aert was clearly the strongest today, he blew everyone away. He’s a deserved winner. It wasn’t a stressful day today, even a bit better than in Denmark. In the end, when Van Aert ignited, it got faster. When we got to the top of the climb things got a bit hectic. We knew if there was a team that could pull this off, it would be Jumbo-Visma. They’ve done this before and are super strong. And indeed they were the strongest today. When Van Aert pulled away, I came from behind. When I saw that he also left Jonas Vingegaard, I didn’t worry anymore because I knew that if we had to, we would follow together. Tomorrow there is an even more difficult stage. I’m hoping for a great day with no difficulties or falls for us. We’re going to have a lot of fun – especially the people watching from the couch.”
