Singapore’s President Positive for COVID-19, These Are the Symptoms

In the midst of Omicron’s tantrum, Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob announced that she had tested positive for COVID-19. Luckily, he was already vaccinated.

“Just tested positive for COVID-19 with mild flu-like symptoms,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Thankfully, I have been vaccinated and have been boosted. I wish you a speedy recovery and sorry to miss some events this week,” he continued.

This announcement was made amid the continued increase in COVID-19 cases in the country. On Monday (4/7/2022), the daily number of cases almost reached 6 thousand.

Apart from the president, two other Singaporean officials also tested positive for COVID-19. The two are parliamentary speaker Tan Chuan-Jin and the minister for culture, community and youth, Edwin Tong.

Before facing the raging new wave of COVID-19, the city-state reopened borders and relaxed almost all restrictions as the number of cases continued to decline. In addition, the number of vaccinated population has also increased. However, masks are still required for indoor activities.
