Amid the rise in infections by Covid-19 in Mexicowith 4,235 new cases and five deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the Secretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell assured that this epidemic is unvaccinated.

He stated that people who died from SARS-CoV-2 in the last five weeks were: 66% unvaccinated and, of these, 69% with chronic diseases and 68% older adults.
“We see again after the fourth wave of infections what serious harm remains in unvaccinated peopleLopez-Gatell said. In addition, he made a special call for pregnant people and those with some comorbidity to be vaccinated.
He explained that the vaccination units will continue to vaccinate the laggards although, currently, The campaign is aimed at boys and girls. “People who have not been vaccinated still have a vaccine available”, he assured.
He explained that given the increase in infections, there is also a slight rise in hospitalizations and deaths. Intensive care units are at 3% and an average of 12 deaths are recorded on a weekly daily average.
“Our epidemiological curve of weekly aggregation: the estimated cases we see that the upward trend continues, this is already the eleventh consecutive week of this increase,” he concluded.
