The Russian authorities have raised this Monday to more than 2.3 million the number of people who have arrived in the country fleeing the war in Ukraine, most of them from the self-proclaimed people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, located in the east of the country.
Official sources quoted by the Russian news agency TASS have indicated that “According to the latest data, 2.3 million refugees have arrived in Russia, including 364,000 children.” “Half of them are citizens of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,” they added.

They have also pointed out that about 33,000 people, including 11,000 children, are housed in 634 temporary centers. The Russian authorities have highlighted that they have given 10,000 rubles (about 175 euros) to each of the refugees as a form of economic support after their flight from the country.
