Russian goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov was arrested shortly before heading to North America and the NHL. The reason was suspicions of fleeing military service. According to reports, Fedotov is nauseous and hospitalized.

Fedotov had been arrested outside an ice rink in St. Petersburg.

Strong season this year

25-year-old Lappeenranta-born Fedotov became Russian champion with CSKA Moscow when the team took home this year’s Gagarin Cup in the KHL. Fedotov is said to have informed the club management that he intends to leave the team and the country.

Fedotov was the goalkeeper when the Russian Olympic team took silver behind Finland in Beijing in February. He was named the best goalkeeper of the season in the KHL.
