Kim Kardashian – faces lawsuit over new skincare line
Meet Cyndie Lunsford, studio owner of Brooklyn Beauty Concepts. Because Lunsford claims she’s owned the Skkn brand since 2018, she sued Kim Kardashian, who recently unveiled her own skincare line, Skkn. However, Kardashian attorney Michael Rhodes believes the lawsuit could be misleading, reports Geo TV.
Rhodes argued that the lawsuit “isn’t what it seems.” And he discussed the cease and desist letter that Lunsford sent to Kim. However, Rhodes was slow to recognize that Cyndie represents the small business realm. But he also expressed outrage at the lawsuit, calling it a celebrity-driven “shakedown effort”.

“We applaud Ms. Lunsford for being a small business owner and chasing her dreams,” Rhodes said. Page 6. “But that doesn’t give him the right to falsely claim that we did something wrong. In their letter, Beauty Concepts claimed to own the rights to a logo consisting of SKKN+ and had just filed for trademark protection for this logo,” notes the lawyer.
Lawyer attacks lawsuit as threatening Kim Kardashian’s reputation
Due to the difference between Kim’s skincare line and Beauty Concepts business, Rhodes also questioned the legitimacy of the lawsuit. For example, the lawyer called the Lunsford operations “an individual boutique offering facials from a single location in Brooklyn. The lounge had no signage and was by appointment only. To our knowledge, Beauty Concepts has not sold any product under the name SKKN+.
However, despite the accolades, Beauty Concepts applied to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. But this office “rejected Beauty Concepts’ own SKKN+ brand saying ‘skkn’ just means ‘skin,'” Rhodes said. And the attorney also alleged that Kim repeatedly tried to discuss options. But Beauty Concepts “didn’t really engage with us beyond demanding a lot of money”, claimed Rhodes.
Accordingly, counsel summarized the case as follows: “Less about trademark law and more about trying to take advantage of a settlement by threatening to damage Ms. Kardashian’s name and reputation.” And Rhodes added a warning. “It will not work” he warned.
However, Beauty Concepts owner Lunsford believes she created her brand first. As a result, she feels her lawsuit represents a small business. “I have painstakingly built my successful small business through my own input, hard work and research. Clearly I established my brand first,” Lunsford insisted.
