“They are provoking us.” Lukashenko accused Ukraine of shooting at Belarus

This week, Belarus shot down missiles sent by Ukraine into its territory. This was stated on Saturday by the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, according to whom the missiles aimed at military installations were stopped. Referring to the Belarusian media, Reuters reported on this and noted that Lukashenko did not support his claims with any evidence. The Ukrainian army has not yet commented on the matter.

Ukraine is now facing attacks by the Russian army, which invaded the neighboring country on February 24. Belarus is not directly participating in the war, but it has provided Russian forces with its territory to attack Ukraine.

“They provoke us. I have to inform you that about three days ago, maybe a little more, an attempt was made from the territory of Ukraine to attack military facilities on the territory of Belarus,” Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the BelTA state agency. The leader also said that all missiles sent by the Ukrainian armed forces were intercepted by the anti-aircraft defense system.

At the same time, according to the BelTA agency, Lukashenko swore that not a single Belarusian soldier is fighting in Ukraine, and repeated the claim that Minsk has no intention of joining the fighting.
