New York State bans firearms in ‘vulnerable’ public places

Last week, the United States Supreme Court struck down a state law that allowed the carrying of firearms in public only by licensed individuals, enshrining the right of Americans to go out armed with guns. their home.

But the court has nevertheless allowed the prohibition of the carrying of weapons in certain “vulnerable places”, which New York is now taking advantage of. However, this new law could be challenged in court.

According to the new provisions, anyone wishing to carry a weapon in these vulnerable areas will have to have a permit subject to strict rules.

Anyone who owns a firearm will now also have to keep it in a safe place in the home if children under the age of 18 live there, according to CNN. Previously, this age was 16 years.

Last month, a series of bills aimed at strengthening state firearms laws had already been passed, including raising the minimum age to buy a semi-automatic rifle to 21.
