Frédéric Dagée held his rank, unsurprisingly, this Sunday in Caen. The French record holder (20.75m) did not deliver the competition of his life, he even bit his last four tries, but a second throw at 19.58m was enough for him to grab his seventh national title in a row.
He failed in his quest for the minimum for the Munich Euro (Germany, August 15-21). He should have sent his machine to 20.85m to spin in Bavaria.
200m: Zeze champion of France with the minima for the Euro
Vice-champion of France in the 100m on Saturday, after having passed a hundredth of the coronation, Meba-Mickael Zeze pocketed a second medal during these France Elite, this Sunday.
And, this time, the adopted Mandolocian did not miss the gold in the 200m. Best time of the series in 20”47, the native of Normandy accelerated again in the final. Beaten by Mouhamadou Fall the day before, he took his revenge. He beat the Parisian (3rd in 20”50) and his brother Ryan (2nd in 20”46) with a new record (20”41 against 20”44) and the minimums for Munich (20”43 ).
He dedicated his title to his son, Liam. The 28-year-old sprinter had promised to bring him back the best of medals and he kept his word. The one who had already been French champion of the distance in 2018 put aside his tendonitis in the Achilles heel. They had ruined his first season under the colors of the MNAC.
400m hurdles: Seri and Montoya do the double
Ninth French performer in history on 400m hurdles since the end of May (55”79), Camille Seri was eagerly awaited on the Normandy track. This Sunday, the 23-year-old Niçoise enforced the hierarchy. Best time of the entries, it won easily in 56”50.
Her teammate from Nice Côte d’Azur Athlétisme, Emma Montoya, was not left out. She took 2nd place in 58”72, just ahead of Farah Clerc (Lyon, 59”33). This is his first appearance on the France Elite podium.
Triple jump: Diallo is injured
Best French performer of the season with her 14.32m achieved in Madrid on June 18 and the minima for the Eugene Worlds (United States, July 15-24), Rouguy Diallo was the big favorite in the Caen competition. But the Niçoise has not recovered a title that has eluded her since 2019.
She bit on her first try during which she injured the hamstring in her left leg. She had already experienced a glitch in the right hamstring last February, during the Mondeville meeting (Calvados). This injury had slowed his season for three months.
This Sunday, pending exams, Teddy Tamgho’s protege did not yet know the duration of her unavailability. His presence at the Worlds could nevertheless be compromised.
Francilienne Victoria Josse, defending champion, kept her good with her 13.49m.
400m: record and silver for Andant
On the lap, Téo Andant had beaten his personal best by four hundredths, Saturday in the series (46”45). This Sunday, the Monegasque did it again and broke the 46”00 barrier in 45”99.
A performance that allowed him to finish 2nd in the final, in the wake of Amiénois Thomas Jordier (45”71). He had already been silver in 2020.
This result should allow him to be selected for the 4X400m relay of the European Championship in Munich.
Brisseault 6th in javelin, Bovele-Linaka 10th in discus
Niçois Lenny Brisseault completed the javelin final in 6th place. The native of Fréjus managed a throw of 68.89m on his second try. Victory went to Felise Vahai Sosaia (77.02m). The New Caledonian has set a new record.
On discus, NCAA member Marie-Josée Bovele-Linaka finished 10th. She sent her machine to 47.25m. As expected, the gold medal was won by Rio Olympic vice-champion, Lyonnaise Mélina Robert-Michon (58.82m).
